For Americans,
Iran has only recently opened up to tourism. A few visas were
issued to Americans in 1996. A few more were issued in 1997. Since
1998 Iran has seen an increasing number of American tourists.
|
|
Visas are now being issued only when the following
conditions are met:
1) American tourists must book a tour with a tour company and show an official itinerary.
2) Women traveling in Iran must wear a scarf to cover their heads, and a long-sleeved
coat to cover their bodies.
3) Women must submit passport photos showing them wearing a scarf for the
issue of visas.
|
How does this translate?
Because of the sensitive view the Iranian government still holds regarding
America, tourist visas are issued to Americans only through tour agencies.
This means that as a traveler to Iran, you must either book an individual
itinerary, which is costly, or you must travel in a group.

|
The solution?
If you want to travel in Iran-
book a tour.
The bigger the group is- the lower the price. Get
together your own group of friends with common interests.
