| Kilim runners
share the same characteristics as kilims or flat weaves.
The only difference is that they are long and narrow.
Kilims are flat woven rather
than pile woven. There are no tufts of wool sticking up like
in a pile carpet. As a result, they are much easier to make
and they take much less time. So, they are cheaper! These
kilims were hand crafted in the tradition of old Qashq'ai
kilims. Some of the same motifs and designs were used.
They are incredibly versatile
and are inexpensive enough to put in places where you just
want that extra splash of color or where you want to hide the
floor. These would be perfect used in a summer lakeside
cabin, as a picnic blanket at your favorite wine and cheese
concert in the park, or to spread on the ground when the
grandkids beg to sleep in the yard. They'll travel anywhere
as they are lighter. They will also do well with pets and
small children as spills can hide in the pattern and be
cleaned up easily. They could be cut up and sewn into
fabulous pillows as well.
They are all wool- wool weft
on a wool warp. This makes them pliable and versatile.
