| First, climb to
the top of a really high hill or mountain. Then shout into
the air, "Yaaaalaaaameeeeh". It will give you the
feel for these rugs. Yalameh runners share the same
qualities as their rug counterparts. They're just a
longer version of the mountaintop kind of experience.
The hooked latch medallions
come from an old Lori nomad tradition. The fine weave is
somehow influenced by the Qashq'ai of southern Iran. But
Yalameh is Yalameh- it's a tribe and tradition all its own.
The colors are all derived from natural dyes- indigo for the
blues and larkspur to get the greens and yellows. The reds
are dyed using madder root or "ronas". The browns come from
walnut skins, and the other subtle shades of taupe and light
yellows come from pomegranate skins and grape leaves.
Basically, it took a salad to make this rug.
The wool is of the finest,
softest quality.
Need I say more? The final
touch is that all through the basic underlying medallion
patterning, little goats and other animals frolic and flowers
bloom. The uses for runners like these are beyond measure.
You can put them in a room with a Yalameh rug to direct the
traffic.
Most
of these are woven using a wool warp which makes them even
softer to the touch and gentle on bare feet.
The best part is that if you
own one, you're allowed to yell "Yaaaalaaaameeeh" whenever and
at whomever you please. Owning one is a license.
For rugs similar to these
runners, check out the

Rugs section!
Though I only have one of
these currently listed, I have several in stock.
