| Kochan rugs are
made in the northeast in the area surrounding the village of
Qochan. The rugs are woven by tribal weavers of
different origins- some Kurdish and some Afshars.
Because of its close proximity to Turkmenistan, there is also
a great deal of Turkoman influence. The designs from
this area are drawn from the different tribal traditions and,
in many ways, resemble rugs made in the Caucasus.
The colors are fabulous and
rugs are generally woven on a very fine, curly wool warp.
The result is a texture like a soft, fine velvet. The

the details found on each separate page for each separate rug.
